Monique van Veen

Monique is the Associate Director, International at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.

With a decade of experience working in international education and development throughout Asia, she’s a champion of education and the power it has to cast ripples well beyond a single student’s achievements, particularly for the lives of women and girls.  

Monique has spent many years travelling and working in South and Southeast Asia, and holds a Master of Human Rights, which she obtained after working with NGOs in Thailand and Nepal. She is a keen advocate for the importance of Aotearoa New Zealand’s relationship with Asia.
