About our sports programme
The Foundation's sports programme leverages the appeal of sport to forge cultural connections. It provides New Zealand sportspeople opportunities to grow their knowledge of Asia, establish connections and develop relationships with their counterparts throughout the region. Our sports programme provides internships in Asia for young sports leaders, as well as grants that enable sport-sector professionals to travel to the region and deepen their understanding of how sport is delivered there. It also creates opportunities for sports professionals and thought leaders from Asia to visit New Zealand and engage with their Kiwi counterparts.
The Foundation's sports programme leverages the appeal of sport to forge cultural connections through the language of sport. Sport serves as a powerful medium for cultural exchange, providing a common ground where people from diverse backgrounds can interact, share experiences, and build mutual understanding.
