Shar Amner is an experienced Māori governance leader with 14 years’ experience across Māori incorporations, iwi entities, subsidiary companies and Crown-facing organisations.
He is chair of Ātihau-Whanganui Incorporation, one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest Māori agribusinesses by land area, overseeing approximately 42,000 hectares and an asset base of around $330 million on behalf of more than 10,000 shareholders.
He also serves as a director of AWHI Mīere Ltd and as a non-executive director and board advisor to Te Tii Limited. Shar brings extensive experience in primary sector strategy, investment, financial performance, risk, Treaty partnerships and intergenerational asset stewardship. He is a member of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand.
Alongside his governance roles, Shar is general manager Māori Economic Strategy and Strategic Partnerships at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, where he leads work supporting Māori economic development and Crown-Māori relationships.
