Shaheer is a Pakistani New Zealander from Wellington. He majored in philosophy, politics, and economics (PPE) at the University of Otago and completed an honours degree in economics from the University of Auckland where he was a Kupe Scholar.
Shaheer is interested in how industrial policy has been implemented in China and Southeast Asia and the lessons New Zealand can learn from this.
He works as a research analyst for Motu and assists academic research on wellbeing and inequality in New Zealand.
In his free time he enjoys playing tennis, mountain biking, snowboarding, and taking pictures with his film camera.
