Rethinking Leadership Hui 2026
The Asia New Zealand Foundation Leadership Network is now calling for expressions of interest for the 2026 Rethinking Leadership Hui, to be held in Auckland this March. These hui offer a unique opportunity to explore the leadership challenges facing New Zealand and Asia, and to share insights, experiences and stories with fellow Leadership Network members.
The hui is scheduled to be held in Auckland, 20-22 March, 2026.
The purpose of the Rethinking Leadership Hui is to:
enable critical reflection on leading and leadership.
allow participants to consider what it means to be a leader in both New Zealand and Asia.
address effective leadership skills, share experiences, and discuss how good leadership can lead to impactful social change.
Selection criteria
Up to 16 places are available for network members based in New Zealand.
As places and funding for the Rethinking Leadership Hui are limited, a selection process will take place. Preference will be given to network members who:
demonstrate a genuine interest in learning about leadership, and sharing their leadership stories.
demonstrate an interest in having challenging discussions about leaders/leadership in New Zealand and Asia.
are keen to unpack and question their understanding of being a leader and leadership.
have demonstrated leadership in their workplace, community, and/or in achieving the network’s vision.
What's covered
All costs associated with attending the Rethinking Leadership Hui will be paid for by the Asia New Zealand Foundation. This includes:
accommodation
return economy travel
meals
planned activities.
Participants will be responsible for getting to and from their local airport, and personal spending money.
How to apply
Please use this online form to lodge an expression of interest to attend. Applications must be submitted no later than 21 December 2025. You will not be able to submit this form unless all questions indicated with an asterisk (*) are completed.
Applicants will be notified of the outcome within three weeks of the closing date. Please note that participants will be expected to attend all days of the hui and participate in all activities.
