This NCEA Level 2 physics unit focuses on the Japan rail system. Students will explore motion, force, momentum and energy in a Japanese context.
Students carry out research and prepare a report describing the physics of the SCMaglev magnetic levitation transport system that is under construction in Japan.
Achievement objective:
The following standards are covered AS 91169 - Demonstrate Understanding of Physics Relevant to a Selected Context, and (part of) AS 91171 - Demonstrate Aspects of Mechanics.
