Ruby Dalmer joined the Foundation in July 2023 after graduating from the University of Auckland. She completed a Bachelor of Global Studies, majoring in Global Politics and Human Rights, Asian Studies, and Chinese. She worked for Write Limited, an impactful plain language consultancy, alongside her studies. During her time at university, Ruby also accepted a scholarship to participate in a Mandarin language exchange in Taiwan.
Ruby has an international background and grew up moving countries every three years. She has lived in Thailand, Samoa, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, and New Zealand. Because of her time spent living in Asia and studying Mandarin, she has a deep connection to Asia-New Zealand affairs. She is passionate about all things language and has an interest in international relations, policy, and research.
Outside of study and work, Ruby is also a trained dancer and was raised in the competitive dance world. In her free time, she enjoys photography, fashion, listening to podcasts, and indulging in very trashy reality television (the more ridiculous the better).
