Ethan Jones

Manager, Business Programme

Ethan (Ngāi Takoto, Te Aupōuri) joined the Foundation's business programme in May 2021 and is based in Auckland.

Ethan spent five years living, studying, and working in China. He first moved to China to continue studying Mandarin after completing his bachelors in Chinese and Modern Languages. He later worked in sales for ABI - a global fortune 500 beer company – helping them develop their portfolio and presence in the Shanghai craft beer sector. He was an active member in both the Hangzhou and Shanghai New Zealand business communities.

In 2019, Ethan moved back home and started a company focused on Chinese tourism in regional New Zealand.

Post the Covid-19 border closures, he undertook postgraduate study in economics and had a short-term contract at New Zealand Treasury examining the effectiveness of this country’s emergency tax policy response to Covid-19.

In 2014, Ethan took part in the Understanding South East Asia Programme, an initiative that took him to six of the 10 ASEAN nations for a study and networking tour.
