Lianne says that one point of difference at her kura is their commitment to global, indigenous education. As part of this vision, Lianne and her school have carefully nurtured and continue to maintain special relationships with the Ainu people of Ainu Moshir (Hokkaido, Japan) and Japanese schools via digital and other cultural exchanges.
Lianne wanted to be a part of the Champions programme to network with other likeminded people, develop her own capability, and share knowledge with others.

Lianne believes an understanding of Asia, specifically language and culture, serves to strengthen this country's own cultural identity, and grows a genuine appreciation of other beliefs, customs, contributions and world views.
As an indigenous New Zealander, Lianne is passionate about supporting and learning from other indigenous peoples of Asia and indeed worldwide.
