Jane Bassett

Jane is a food technology teacher in sunny Hawkes Bay. Prior to this, she worked as a food technologist for ENZAFOODS in Nelson and Hastings and worked in the UK for GlaxoSmithkline.

Jane is well travelled and has visited a number of Asian countries - China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Japan. Jane and her musical family have taken part in a sister city exchange to China, meeting and performing with local musicians, which showed her first-hand the benefits of exchanges through seeing her teenage children's awareness of other cultures grow.

Jane enjoys exploring the flavours and cuisine of different countries with her students whenever she gets a chance."Travelling the world via one’s taste buds is still possible during these uncertain times, with delicious results!"

As a Champion, Jane is looking forward to a focus on cuisine and culture from a range of Asian countries.
