Shisla Carvalho Macleod
Shisla is a Brazilian Kiwi who grew up in Brazil and moved to Aotearoa at the age of 13. She is passionate about diversity and sustainability.
Currently a policy analyst for Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa (Customs), Shisla has led projects to advance women’s rights, promote sustainable trade and improve Te Tiriti o Waitangi analysis in policy development.
Shisla’s connection to Asia started when backpacking through Southeast Asia and further developed during her time studying international business and economics as a student and research assistant at the University of Auckland.
Shisla represented New Zealand at Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2021 and 2022, advocating for climate action, access to quality education and inclusion.
She is involved with the Latin American community and hopes to further strengthen the connection between Aotearoa, Asia and Latin America.
