Seraphine Williams

From the villages of Lepea and Magiagi, Upolu, Samoa - born and raised at Waitakere, Tamaki Makaurau - Seraphine is a light-hearted, hardworking, and active person who enjoys the finer pleasures in life.

She has a background in organisational psychology and is currently studying fourth-year medicine at Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka, Te Whanganui a Tara (University of Otago’s Wellington campus) while working as the Raururuku Auahi Kore (Smokefree Coordinator), at Te Whatu Ora in Te Whanganui a Tara.

Her leadership journey began at home, where the teachings of her matua seeded, nourished, and flourished the values of a leader which she effortlessly demonstrates along all dimensions of her life.

Her whanau, like many Samoan peoples, whakapapa to mainland China, arriving in Samoa as some of the earliest Chinese settlers in the 1870s. Learning more about her whakapapa has grown her interest in Asia, alongside the many ethnocultural, sociopolitical, and technological advancements within the continent that can support health in Aotearoa.
