Ko Lauryn Maxwell is an emerging Māori leader from Tauranga-Moana and an uri of Ngāti Pūkenga ki Manaia and Ngāti Maru.
She currently works as a Ngā Mātārae Graduate at Auckland Council, contributing to Māori outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau.
With an academic background in public and Māori health, Lauryn’s leadership journey spans youth advocacy, equity, governance, and community development.
She was selected as one of 25 young changemakers for YWCA New Zealand’s Y25 programme and has held leadership roles across youth and community organisations.
Lauryn is passionate about sharing te ao Māori and creating meaningful connections across cultures.
She has worked on projects in both Japan and India, gaining valuable experience working alongside diverse communities and within different cultural contexts. These experiences have strengthened her passion for international leadership and knowledge exchange.
Lauryn hopes to share Māori perspectives and values in global spaces while learning from communities across Asia and bringing those insights back to Aotearoa.
