Jason Tran
Jason is a Kiwi-born whose whakapapa traces back to China, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
With parents who survived the Khmer Rouge, he is passionate about reconnecting with his family’s history and reclaiming pride in his identity, heritage, and culture.
A graduate of the University of Auckland with a conjoint Bachelor of Engineering (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce, Jason also served as CEO of Velocity, the University’s flagship entrepreneurship programme, supporting startups out of the University. His Honours Thesis explored using NLP and Bayesian inference to help Parininihi ki Waitotara locate missing shareholder descendants.
Jason currently works at SAP as a Solution Engineer and was previously seconded as APAC Regional GTM Lead, helping organisations across Asia leverage AI to solving their real-world business challenges.
As a Data Fellow with the Good Data Institute, he contributes pro bono to charities, helping them use data and technology to make a meaningful impact to their organisation.
