Isla is a Wellington based FTA coordinator with a background in international relations and trade and a strong interest in Asian languages and culture.
Having lived in Hong Kong and Beijing, and studied Mandarin for over a decade, she has developed a strong interest and passion for the region, particularly Greater China.
Before her current role at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Isla was a ministerial advisor, and previous to that worked in the International Admissions Office at Victoria University of Wellington.
She has recently been awarded the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship allowing her to further her Mandarin studies at National Taiwan Normal University in 2027. She looks forward to strengthening connections between Asia and Aotearoa while she is there.
