The Foundation invites undergraduate and postgraduate students with an interest in the future of blockchain technologies in Asia to apply for an internship in Kuala Lumpur over the 2019/2020 summer.

The internship is with Blockchain Ventures Malaysia and is for students studying the following fields:

  • business
  • law
  • STEM subjects
  • marketing
  • communications.

Students who are positive, confident and interested in developing a career in innovative technologies and business are strongly encouraged to apply.

About Infinity Blockchain Ventures Malaysia

Infinity Blockchain Ventures is a consulting and development firm that provides practical blockchain solutions for business. Infinity supports startups, advances awareness and understanding of blockchain technologies and creates effective blockchain based business solutions.

About the internship

The intern will be placed in Infinity head office in Kuala Lumpur. They will join a team engaged in activities ranging from business consultancy to technical development.

The intern will be given a specific project or meaningful work to do. A mentoring supervisor will be assigned to monitor their professional development and overall welfare.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to:

  • learn about blockchain technology and how it is used for business solutions
  • be part of the team engagement in blockchain events and activities.

The internship will take place over three months between late November 2019 and March 2020.

What's covered

The Asia New Zealand Foundation will cover the cost of:

  • return airfares to Kuala Lumpur
  • accommodation
  • travel insurance
  • a stipend to cover living expenses.

Infinity Blockchain will contribute towards a daily stipend.

The intern will be required to contribute NZ$500 towards his/her living expenses.

Infinity Blockchain will assist with identifying suitable accommodation to ensure the intern lives appropriately during their internship.

The Asia New Zealand Foundation and Infinity will jointly deliver pastoral care and introduce the intern to public and private sector networks in Kuala Lumpur.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
  • in good health
  • due to complete at least two years of tertiary study by November 2019
  • adaptable, mature, reliable and resilient
  • willing to experience a Malaysian working environment and culture
  • aspiring to develop their capacity for working in cross-cultural environments.

Ideal candidates will have a passion for technology, business and Asia and will have an interest in blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

Terms and conditions

Applicants should be willing to:

  • take out appropriate travel insurance (subsidised by the Foundation)
  • contribute $500 to their living costs while offshore
  • contribute a 600-word article with photographs for the Foundation’s website while offshore
  • write a final three-page report evaluating the internship experience
  • participate in Foundation professional development activities and networking events after they return from Malaysia.
