AXEAN Festival 2025, Indonesia
The Asia New Zealand Foundation Te Whītau Tūhono in partnership with New Zealand Music Commission and Independent Music New Zealand is calling for applications from music programmers, promoters, and music business leaders to join a delegation attending the AXEAN Festival 2025 in Indonesia.
Indonesia’s music scene is booming, powered by a population of 270 million, over 70 percent under 45, and a streaming market worth USD 280 million, growing at over 36 percent annually.
Digital platforms now generate more than 90 percent of music revenue, while major festivals like We The Fest and Java Jazz attract tens of thousands and regularly feature international acts. Indonesian artists such as Anggun, Agnez Mo and NIKI are also finding global audiences.
For New Zealand music leaders, this all signals real opportunity: a huge, youthful audience, a thriving live scene, and strong potential for collaboration, touring, and cultural exchange.
Delegates will take part in a week-long programme from 7–16 September 2025, which includes time in the centres of the Indonesian music industry, including Jakarta, to explore Indonesia’s contemporary music ecosystem, culminating in attendance at AXEAN Festival, Southeast Asia’s premier regional music showcase, in Bali on 12–14 September.
Applications for this opportunity are now closed.
