Adi will give practical advice on what it takes to thrive in Indonesia’s relationship and hierarchical-driven business culture, offering tips for New Zealand firms to navigate the market dynamics. He will discuss emerging opportunities for Kiwi businesses in Indonesia, particularly in the green economy.

Adi Reza Nugroho
Co-founder and CEO of MYCL, a biotech startup producing high-performance, low-impact biomaterials for global fashion and building applications. In 2024, MYCL was named a finalist in the Earthshot Prize.
Adi graduated from the School of Architecture at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), in Indonesia, and has been passionate about entrepreneurship from an early stage. He previously co-founded Growbox, a company producing do-it-yourself mushroom growing kits. In 2015, Growbox pivoted into MYCL (also known as Mycotech) focusing on scalable, sustainable materials.
Under his leadership, MYCL has received local and international recognition, including at the 2017 Architecture & Urban Design Biennale in Seoul, the 2018 DBS Social Enterprise Awards and the 2019 MIT Solve Circular Economy Challenge. Adi was also an Australia Awards Scholar for its short-term program in 2018, completed a programme in International Business Readiness at Queensland University of Technology.
Adi sees being part of the social entrepreneurship ecosystem as being part of the world’s solutions, creating value not only through profit, but through impact.
