About out
arts programme

Our Arts programme aims to bring Asia into the mainstream of New Zealand arts by inspiring New Zealand arts professionals to grow their connections and knowledge of Asia. It also supports the presentation of Asian arts in partnership with New Zealand arts organisations and events.

We have a proud history of supporting the development of individual practitioners and Asian arts projects in New Zealand through arts sector grants and artist residencies. Both the Lantern and Diwali Festivals in New Zealand were founded by the Foundation and due to their success are now delivered by the relevant local government event teams.

While the Foundation no longer delivers community cultural festivals itself, support for arts projects that attract a broad audience continues today with the development of deeper partnerships with New Zealand galleries, venues, festivals and regional and local government.

The Foundation currently offers the following programmes of arts funding:
1.      Arts Practitioner Fund – grants for arts practitioners

2.      Arts Project Fund – grants for professional arts organisations and event organisers

3.      Strategic Arts Partnership Fund – long-term partnerships between organisations and the Foundation to enable the delivery of projects, events and festivals

4.     Residencies - residencies in Asia for New Zealand artists
