Wesley Harfield

Wesley is the first New Zealander to be selected to study at the prestigious Yenching Academy of Peking University, where he is currently completing a Master of Economics under a Robin Li (founder of Baidu) scholarship.

His current research includes China’s social credit system and the role of machine learning and data analytics in the Chinese online lending industry.

Wesley is a three-time recipient of the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia, a recipient of the 2017 New Zealand-China scholarship, and a New Zealand delegate at the 2019 Fudan University advanced training programme for young diplomatic talent.

He has also represented the University of Auckland at the 2014 Universitas 21 undergraduate research conference at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
