Our media programme helps New Zealand journalists cover stories that shed light on Asia and on New Zealand’s ties to the region.

We support journalists to build their knowledge of Asia by providing media travel grants, internships in Asian newsrooms and fellowships for senior journalists.

Media Travel Grants

Our media travel grants provide New Zealand journalists with funding to travel independently to Asia to research and prepare stories – to help demystify Asia for New Zealand audiences.

Media Internships

The Asia New Zealand Foundation supports New Zealand journalism student graduates and working journalists to intern at news organisations in Asia.

ACICIS Journalism Professional Practium

The Asia New Zealand Foundation will support a New Zealand journalism student or recent journalism graduate to attend the 2025 Australian Consortium for In-Country Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) Journalism Professional Practicum in Jakarta, Indonesia.
