Southeast Asian Night Market in Wellington
In a happy break with tradition, we got some beautiful fine weather for Wellington's fourth Southeast Asian Night Market on Saturday.
Thousands turned out to enjoy foods, crafts and games, showcasing the cultures and foods of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The 10 member countries of ASEAN are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
We've collected together some of our favourite images from this year's celebrations.
About the Southeast Asian Night Market
The market features delicious food, colourful crafts and non-stop Southeast Asian entertainment and traditional games.
Along with entertainment such as Indonesian puppetry and Malaysian teh tarik (back-and-forth tea pouring), this year's market featured a group of six performers from Sri Warisan, a performing arts group based in Singapore, and singer Arla Fontamillas from the Philippines.
The Southeast Asian Night Market is brought to you by the Wellington City Council and the Asia New Zealand Foundation, in collaboration with the ASEAN countries.
