Informed, well researched news enhances our understanding of Asia and our relations with its peoples. The Asia:NZ media programme is designed to improve the quality and quantity of news on Asia in New Zealand print and broadcast media.

Over 400 New Zealand journalists from every news room in the country receive Asia:NZ’s monthly media newsletter highlighting Asian news stories offshore and issues affecting onshore Asian communities. To sign up.

Regular communication is supplemented by media seminars on major issues and direct assistance to journalists in sourcing contacts and information.

We also organise work placements and exchanges to enable young New Zealand journalists to experience Asia. Schemes are in place with news media in Phnom Penh, Shanghai and Beijing and more are being negotiated.
