Story of the Horse

An exhibition focusing on the horse and its role in Chinese art and culture as part of Hong Kong’s celebrations as it hosts the Equestrian Events of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The exhibition includes around 40 pieces selected from the collection of the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Exhibits include Chinese ceramics, bronzes, bamboo carvings, Chinese paintings, historical pictures and modern works of art.

Heavenly Horse - The Horse in Chinese Art and Culture

Held to coincide with Hong Kong's hosting of the 2008 Olympic Games Equestrian Events, this exhibition features approximately 60 artefacts from 28 heritage institutes from 14 provinces and autonomous regions. This is the first time that many of these pieces, such as the Qin dynasty terracotta saddled horse, the gilt bronze steed and the Qing dynasty bronze horse head from Yuanmingyuan (the Old Summer Palace in Beijing), will be displayed in Hong Kong.
