To Shanghai and the world stage

31 May 2010

A group of Asia New Zealand Foundation Young Leaders will travel to Shanghai in June to assist in promoting New Zealand in China and they’ll be blogging their stories to an audience at home.

The eight young New Zealanders will be part of the Wellington City Council Mayoral and Business Delegation to promote exchanges across business, culture and learning with Chinese Young Leaders.

The Asia:NZ Young Leaders group are Conal McMahon (Wellington), Tingting Chen (Auckland), Chris Foulkes (Wellington), Maadhvi Patel (Auckland), Kerryn-Ruth Botting (Wellington), Onnuri Lee (Wellington), Kieran Brown (Wellington) and Christiana Zhu (Auckland).

The group will be in Shanghai from June 9 to 12 where the Young Leaders will attend a round-table discussion with foreign policy students at Fudan University, host members of the All China Youth Federation at the NZ Pavilion, attend a screening of the Lovely Bones at New Zealand Central and organise a dinner with Shanghai-based KEA members.

A key focus of the group will be to experience the New Zealand presence at the Shanghai World Expo, met with and facilitate discussions with Chinese Young Leaders and be involved in official functions with the Mayor of Wellington and her delegation.

The Young Leaders will also be keeping a blog about their trip to Shanghai. You can follow their experience at the following web address
