India is the fastest growing economy in the world and is predicted to become the 5th largest economy by 2020. But New Zealand's trade with India remains only about 10 percent of what we traded with China. There are huge untapped tourism and trade opportunities between New Zealand and India.
Amitabh Kant - CEO of India’s top Government think tank, Niti Aayog will be visiting New Zealand from 1-5 May, as the Prime Minister’s Sir Edmund Hillary Fellow.
Amitabh Kant is considered one of the key economic advisors to Prime Minister Modi. He has been a key driver of "Make in India", Startup India, "Incredible India" and "God's Own Country" campaigns which positioned and branded India and Kerala State as leading tourism destinations.
His visit to New Zealand is an opportunity to explore opportunities to expanding trade and investment links between New Zealand and India, including free trade arrangements.
ExportNZ in collaboration with MFAT and NZTE will be hosting Ambitabh Kant at a networking and speaking event Wednesday 3 May in Auckland where he will speak about “The modernisation of India”, providing an expert perspective on the speed and scale of India’s modernisation and the opportunities for New Zealand businesses in India falling out of this.
