Internship with Wilson Parking in South Korea

The Asia New Zealand Foundation invites computer science and information technology students, who will be completing their degree by 2018, to apply for an internship in South Korea with the award-winning company, Wilson Parking.

Young professionals up to age 30 with relevant work experience and aspirations for developing a career involving Asia will also be considered for this opportunity.

About the internship

The intern will be placed in Wilson Parking’s South Korean head office in Seoul. They will join a team engaged in activities ranging from back office operations to business development in South Korea and the North East Asian region. They will be given a specific project or meaningful work to do and a mentoring supervisor will be assigned to monitor the intern’s professional development.

The internship period is for three months, starting in early December 2017 and finishing in late February 2018.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
  • in good health
  • due to complete at least two years of tertiary study by November 2018
  • adaptable, mature, reliable and resilient
  • interested in pursuing a career involving South Korea and the wider Asian region.

While the ability to speak Korean would be an advantage, it is not a prerequisite for this opportunity as English is spoken in the office in Korea. Ideal candidates will have an interest in the national culture of Korea and aspire to develop their capacity for working in cross-cultural environments.

Costs

Asia New Zealand Foundation will cover the cost of return airfares to South Korea, travel insurance, accommodation and a stipend to cover most living expenses. The intern will also be expected to contribute NZ$500 towards their living expenses. Wilson Parking will cover the cost of commuting to and from the office.

The Foundation and Wilson Parking will jointly deliver a pastoral care plan and introduce the intern to other New Zealanders living in Seoul.

Applicants must:

  • take out appropriate travel insurance (subsidised by the Foundation)
  • contribute $500 to their living costs while offshore.

Reporting Requirements

Foundation interns are expected provide reports on their experience, and to seek opportunities to share their experience on their return to New Zealand, and to remain engaged with the Asia New Zealand Foundation. Sharing your experience with others is an important part of this initiative as it enlightens others about developments in Asia. 

Interns are expected to write a 600 word article (with accompanying photos) on their internship that will appear on the Foundation’s website (to be submitted during or no longer than a month after returning from the internship). Within a month of returning to New Zealand, the Foundation requires the intern to complete a 3-page narrative report about the internship.
