Lynne Mossop

Lynne lives in Tauranga and works at Greenpark Primary School. She is a classroom teacher, senior teacher and international manager.

Her passion for Asia stems from extensive travel, and planning and guiding groups of students and their families to South Korea as part of their unique sister school exchange programme. Greenpark School and the local community has a strong connection to Asia through the school hosting short and long term international students from Southeast Asia for the past 15 years. Lynne says providing first-hand opportunities to experience Asia is so rewarding and is what motivated her to apply to be part of the Champions programme.

She says hosting overseas guests at her school and in students' homes gives students and the community an appreciation and understanding of different cultures and a sense of identity and belonging. With this exposure, she says students grow in confidence, become risks takers and make lifelong friendships and connections.

She is looking forward to collaborating with colleagues in the Champions programme to extend school-wide cultural responsiveness to enhance student learning and achievement.
