Asian Civilisations Museum - Where Asian Cultures Come Alive!
The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) offers youth a window to the exciting and diverse cultures of Asia. Through innovative displays, the museum illuminates the cultural roots of modern Singaporeans and provides youth with a platform for discussions on identity and society. The museum's collection features artefacts from Southeast Asia, China, West Asia and South Asia.
The ACM also manages the Peranakan Museum (TPM), which explores the culture of Peranakan communities in the former Straits Settlements of Singapore, Malacca and Penang and their links with other communities in Southeast Asia. It is a boutique museum with the finest and most comprehensive collection of Peranakan artefacts in the world.
The Education team in ACM and TPM not only engages schools in curriculum-based museum experiences but also designs in-gallery and outreach interactives for visitors of all ages. The team creates tours and workshops that go beyond the traditional subjects such as history that most museums are perceived to cater to. The museum's latest workshops include creative pedagogy, product design, cultural resource management and documentation, exhibition lighting as well as conservation.
The team has conceptualized the ExplorAsia zones in the ACM and designed the children’s interactives in TPM. These interactives have enhanced the museum experience for visitors of all ages. View the ACM website.
