Diwali Festival of Lights - Auckland 2011
It was the 10th anniverary of Diwali Festival of Lights in Auckland this year, and festival-goers turned out by the thousands to enjoy the sunshine and Indian food, culture and dance.
Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival, which is a time for celebration in India and by Indian diasporas abroad. Families light lamps, candles and fireworks to symbolise the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.
