Kiwi Asian Journalism Scholarship
The Asia New Zealand Foundation created this scholarship to help attract more Asian New Zealanders into journalism, and encourage greater representation of Asian communities in mainstream New Zealand journalism.
A 2007 survey by the New Zealand Journalism Training Organisation (NZJTO) showed that only about two percent of all journalists working in the mainstream English-language news media were Asian, though Asian New Zealanders make up 10 percent of the population.
