Student realise that lanterns:
- are used to light the way
- have a light source covered in translucent or transparent material
- are using hung or held from above
- can vary in shape and size
Rectangles can be strengthened by using triangulation.
Structures often contain triangles and cylinder shapes which enhance their strength.
An icon is a simple shape/picture that signifies information to the user.
Technological Capability
The lantern must:
- be hollow
- be covered in transparent or translucent material that does not melt
- be aesthetically pleasing and colourful
- reflect aspects of Chinese culture
- reflect aspects of the local community
