- Select shapes and forms and construction methods to design and make a Chinese lantern
- Select ways of using the elements of point, line, tone, colour and texture to decorate the lantern
- Describe ways that different examples of lanterns convey different kinds of ideas
Note: The Developing Ideas strand is relevant to all level activities. It involves the process of expressing ideas through making art works in response to motivations using imagination and invention with materials. Teachers might want to write Specific Learning Outcomes for this strand so they can reward students for their invention and imagination.
Dance
- View photos of the Dragon Dance and discuss how the movements are made before working in groups to create a dance sequence
Music
- Experiment in groups with moving in unison to the beat of the drum as teams choreograph, practice and present their own dragon dance
Drama
- In groups share a version of the Lantern Festival before deciding on the characters that could best utilise stilts. Practice and present the story in mime, to the class
