The Visual Arts
- Use the elements of shape, form, point, line, colour, tone and texture in designing and constructing a Chinese lantern from a variety of materials
- Describe ways that lanterns convey stories and ideas
Note: The Developing Ideas strand is relevant to all level activities. It involves the process of expressing ideas through making art works in response to motivations using imagination and invention with materials. Teachers might want to write Specific Learning Outcomes for this strand so they can reward students for their invention and imagination.
Dance
- Observe and talk about the how the Lion moves in the Lion Dance and in pairs make up a movement sequence
Music
- Create a Lion dance by responding in pairs through movement to the beat of drums, symbols and gongs
Drama
- Practice showing the emotions of the characters in a Lantern Festival story and then in groups develop parts of the story through mime
