The Visual Arts
- Explore the elements of shape and form and the process of constructing a Chinese lantern using a variety of materials
- Explore ways of using the elements of point, line, colour and texture to decorate the lantern
- Talk about features of their own lantern and those of others using some art language
Note: The Developing Ideas strand is relevant to all level activities. It involves the process of expressing ideas through making art works in response to motivations using imagination and invention with materials. Teachers might want to write Specific Learning Outcomes for this strand so they can reward students for their invention and imagination.
Dance
- Share movements and dance ideas in response to images of the Lion Dance and simple drum beats
Music
- Use a variety of sound and movement including drums, gongs and symbols to enhance the Lion Dance
Drama
- Talk about characters from the story and then develop images to represent specific moments in the story before developing part of the story in a group
