Inquiry
Once you have built the knowledge about customs and traditions of the Chinese Lantern Festival, conduct a mini inquiry into two of the following celebrations and design three cards that show ways communities celebrate their cultures and heritages. One card must reflect the Chinese Lantern Festival.
Valentines Day, Thanksgiving, Children's Day (Japan), Halloween, Guy Fawkes, Diwali, Christmas, Easter, Olympic Games, Dragon Boat Festival, Polynesian Festival, White Sunday, Highland Games, St Patrick's Day or celebrations of your choice, especially those that reflect the cultures in your community.
Level 3
Write an email to a friend telling them about three different New Year celebrations you have seen on a world trip, and say something about how they are similar.
Level 4
Design three panels for a Chinese lantern that show how people pass on and sustain the customs and traditions of the Lantern Festival. Under the panels write and hang a distich explaining why people pass on these festival traditions.
