Influenced by Pacific, classical and contemporary music, the group has composed its own pieces and collaborated with leading New Zealand composers, other musicians and performing arts groups from dancers to symphony orchestras. Elemental features all new compositions from Gareth Farr, Murray Hickman, Tim Whitta, Leni Sulusi, Tom Pierard and Takumi Motokawa.

Takumi, a Composer in Residence with Strike, has been working on the digital elements of the show as well as composing two exciting works. Live digital operations are a main feature in Elemental. For example, audio samples are triggered from the stage in real time using drum pads or drum triggers, creating one big drum keyboard on the stage.

Elemental plays at Downstage Theatre from Thursday 3 July to Saturday 26 July.
