Auckland International Film Festival
Start Time: Friday 11 July 2008
End Time: Monday 28 July 2008
The Auckland International Film Festival is the longstanding highlight of the Auckland winter, showcasing the best in contemporary and retrospective cinema hand-picked from the international film festival circuit and New Zealand. This Festival is renowned for its innovative selection across a variety of genres, from documentaries and drama to comedies, animation, retrospectives and live cinema. The Festival also hosts international and local filmmakers, giving the audiences a chance to get insights into what motivates and inspires those who work behind the camera.
This year there is a wonderful line-up of Asian films, from intense, evocative dramas to searing social documentary. From the Japanese Pacific Rim to the Asian subcontinent, films that have charmed, dazzled and moved audiences, and enthused critics worldwide will have the chance to do the same to New Zealand audiences at the Festival. Guests this year include Yung Chang, the Chinese Canadian director of 'Up the Yangtze!'
Please check the Festival's website for further information on films showing this year.
