Wellington International Film Festival

Start Time: Saturday 19 July 2008
End Time: Monday 04 August 2008

The Wellington International Film Festival is the longstanding highlight of the Wellington winter, showcasing the best in contemporary and retrospective cinema hand-picked from the international film festival circuit and New Zealand. This Festival is renowned for its innovative selection across a variety of genres, from documentaries and drama to comedies, animation, retrospectives and live cinema. The Festival also hosts international and local filmmakers, giving our audiences a chance to get insights into what motivates and inspires those who work behind the camera.

As usual, this year we have a wonderful line-up of films from Asia, from intense, evocative drama to searing social documentary. From the Japanese Pacific Rim to the Asian subcontinent, films that have charmed, dazzled and moved audiences and enthused critics worldwide will have the chance to do the same to New Zealand audiences at the festival. This year's festival guests includes the Chinese Canadian director of the film 'Up the Yangtze!', Yung Chang.

Please check the Festival's website for further information on films showing this year.
