scrosby2_ksw2006.jpgThe Korean Studies Workshop provides opportunities to learn about Korea first-hand through a series of university lectures and field trips to sites of historical and contemporary relevance.

The workshop is held annually in Seoul, Korea for approximately 16 days. Up to five New Zealand teachers, lecturers or advisers will be selected by Asia New Zealand. This year's workshop will take place from 19 June to 2 July 2008. 

The workshop is sponsored by the Korea Foundation and Korea University in partnership with Asia:NZ.

Eligibility

The Workshop is best suited to educators working in areas of the curriculum where Asia is a focus of study. Preference will be given to educators committed to increasing studies of Asia in the classroom and who can demonstrate an ability to disseminate their knowledge in schools and to the wider community.scrosby_ksw2006.jpg

Costs 

All costs including accommodation, meals, domestic and international airfares are covered by The Korea Foundation and Asia:NZ. Participants will be responsible for their own travel insurance and spending money.

Conditions

Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with Asia:NZ agreeing to all award conditions.



Participants must:

  • submit to Asia:NZ an initial report within a month of their return from Korea with an evaluation of the workshop and an outline of strategies to support the promotion and development of Asian studies in class, school and/or wider community programmes
  • submit to Asia:NZ a final report a year from their return from Korea outlining and including examples where applicable, initiative s implemented and outcomes achieved
