Internship with Wilson Parking in South Korea

The Asia New Zealand Foundation supports computer science and information technology students or recent graduates to apply for an internship in South Korea with Wilson Parking.

Young professionals up to age 30 with relevant work experience and aspirations for developing a career involving Asia will also be considered for this opportunity.

About the internship

The two successful interns will be placed in Wilson Parking’s office in Seoul. They will join a team engaged in activities ranging from back office operations to business development in South Korea and the North East Asian region. The interns will be given a specific project or meaningful work to do and a mentoring supervisor will be assigned to monitor the interns’ professional development. The internship period is for three months, starting in early December 2018 and finishing in late February 2019.

The internship will be particularly interesting for students specialising in :

  • knowledge of Java using the latest SDKS, tools, and frameworks such as Spring
  • relational Database experience (MS-SQL, MySQL, MariaDB, etc.)
  • experience with Application Server (Tomcat, IIS, Sharepoint)
  • experience one or more of the following (Windows, Linux)

The Foundation and Wilson Parking will jointly deliver pastoral care to provide for interns’ professional development and overall welfare.

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • New Zealand citizens or permanent residents
  • in good health
  • due to complete their tertiary study
  • adaptable, mature, reliable and resilient
  • interested in pursuing a career involving South Korea and the wider Asian region

While the ability to speak Korean would be an advantage, it is not a prerequisite for this opportunity as English is spoken in the office in South Korea. Ideal candidates will have an interest in the national culture of South Korea and aspire to develop their capacity for working in cross-cultural environments.

Other conditions

Applicants are required to:

  • take out appropriate travel insurance (subsidised by the Foundation)
  • contribute $500 to their living costs while offshore
  • contribute a 600-word article for the Foundation’s website while offshore
  • write a three-page report evaluating the internship as a professional development experience at the end of their time in South Korea
  • participate in Foundation professional development activities and networking events after they return from South Korea.

What’s covered

The Asia New Zealand Foundation will cover the cost of return airfares to South Korea, travel insurance, accommodation and a stipend to cover living expenses.  

The selected interns will also be expected to contribute NZ$500 towards their living expenses. Wilson Parking will cover the cost of commuting to and from the office.
