2018 International Media Conference grant

Asia New Zealand Foundation is offering a grant to allow a New Zealand newsroom leader or senior journalist the chance to participate in the East West Center’s 2018 International Media Conference in Singapore.

Singapore building

Theme: What is News Now?

Destination: Singapore

Dates: 25-27 June, 2018

The East-West Center’s 2018 International Media Conference will bring hundreds of media professionals together to look at new-era trends and transformations in media and the news itself.

The conference will include speakers on transformative issues shaping today’s world, particularly in the Asia Pacific region — artificial intelligence, digitalisation, China’s rise, populism and identity politics, future of trade, smarter cities, and emerging issues that may not have yet made the news.

The closing date for applications to reach the Asia New Zealand Foundation is 5pm, Monday 28 May 2018.

Grant details

The Asia New Zealand Foundation will cover economy-class flights, up to four nights’ accommodation, and conference fees in Singapore for the successful New Zealand participant. The estimated value of this grant is $3500.

Who can apply?

Newsroom leaders and senior journalists who are currently working for New Zealand news organisations are eligible to apply. At least five years’ experience is preferred.

Preference will be given to applicants who can identify how they will generate content from the programme and share the knowledge gained with other New Zealand journalists.
